It's been a while!

Hello Everyone,

It's been a while since I posted anything. I guess that's what happens when there's a big life change going on. I'm back to work this week after over 5 years off on sick leave. It's an adjustment but I'm looking forward to being a working girl again! Today I made my Goddaughter's birthday card for her upcoming birthday. Hope she likes it!

It's been too long since my last post. I've been busy but the invitations are done, mailed and received!

I've had great feedback so I guess everyone really likes them. More importantly my sister-in-law and brother-in-law love them. As she said, who would have thought that her maid-of-honor would one day be making the invitations for her 25th wedding anniversary! It's worth celebrating!

Starting Young

Hello Everyone,

Today I'm sharing a layout I created featuring a photo of my niece, Kayla. She was around 3 years old in this photo taken one afternoon when I was babysitting her. She liked my mop because liquid would squirt out, so I let her play with it a little. I took the picture to show her mom that she was a great little helper! Sometimes, it's the little moments that make the best memories.

Recycled Jars

Hello Everyone,

I haven't done much crafting lately--I'm still trying to get over whatever bug has been affecting me for the last couple of weeks. I did finally recycle the small jars from Starbucks cold coffees. I removed the stickers and printing and I painted the lids in colours that will hopefully co-ordinate with my future craft room. These are great small jars to store any small crafting items. I can't wait to have my craft room so I can display them!

Crop Day

Hello Everyone,

Ginger Ale

Hello Everyone,

Today, I've created a card for l'Art du Scrapbooking's weekly challenge. The challenge was to create a card using a colour palette based on a drink. I've made mine based on one of my favourite drinks, Ginger Ale. So my card is predominately gold, not always an easy colour to work with.  While I'm sitting here drinking my big glass of Ginger Ale, I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

New Camera

Hello Everyone,

I haven't had much time to craft lately. It's hard to do when everyone is around and there are flowers to  plant and outdoor clean-up. I did get myself a new camera so I can take better photos of my projects and maybe start videotaping some things to post on this blog.

Just Married

Hello Everyone,

Hello Everyone!

Happy St. Jean Baptiste to all my fellow Quebecers! I hope everyone has a great Provincial Holiday & enjoys the great weather.

I'm off to my sister-in-law's 40th birthday party. It should be lots of fun--food, drinks & a beautiful day.

I'm posting a photo off the card I made for my niece who will be at the party today. It's her 15th birthday on Friday but I won't be seeing her since she'll be in Italy along with 10 members of our immediately family. Wish I was going!

New Discovery

Hello Everyone,

Today, I visited a scrapbook store not too far from where I live that I did not know existed. It's called Art Du Scrapbooking. I first found out about it on Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine's blog, which has a contest currently going on featuring products supplied by this retailer.

 It's a wonderful store full of everything needed for paper projects. Also available are items for jewellery-making. The selection is great, the prices are comparable, the staff friendly and knowledgable. I bought a few things but really had to hold myself back from going crazy. I'll definitely be going back soon and will be recommending it to my friends.

While I'm here, let me show you the Baptism card I created for the celebration I'll be attending tomorrow. I love girly things!

50th Anniversary

I've created a layout featuring a photo taken at my in-laws 50th anniversary. It's in my favourite style--vintage/shabby chic. I've used a pretty shaped paper from KaiserCraft's Porcelain Rose collection.

Family BBQ

Hello Everyone,

I haven't done much crafting in last few days because I've been getting ready for Sunday's Family BBQ. Though I'm used to receiving large groups of family & friends for different occasions, it's always a lot of running around & preparation. I like to decorate & set a pretty table. It gives me great pleasure to host a fun party full of food & drink, surrounded by prettiness!

Hello Everyone,

I've completed my banner--Yeah! I'm relieved to have it done & now I can start concentrating on all the details for next week's family bbq. I hope the weather cooperates so we can have everything outside but if not, our new extension will do nicely. I've put up the banner inside for now but I'm hoping to be able to put it outside for the bbq. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Black & White

Hello Everyone,

Today was a prep day. I got started on the 'Welcome Banner' that I want to make for next week's family bbq. I did all the colour co-ordinating & cutting so that hopefully tomorrow I can finish decorating  

& putting everything together. In the meantime, I'm posting a layout that I created for a black & white challenge during the last crop I attended. It features a picture of my younger daughter when she was around 12 years old. She really dislikes how she looks in this photo but I think she looks quite pretty & I'm happy with how the layout turned out.

Happy Birthday Cassandra!

Hello Everyone,

Today I made a birthday card for my niece, Cassandra. Her birthday is on Monday, June 10, but I always make my cards in time to mail them. I think there's nothing more exciting about receiving a pretty envelope with an even prettier card addressed to you on your special day. Sometimes the mail doesn't co-operate and the card gets there a day before or a day after but I know that the recipients

are grateful no matter what. This is my main reason for creating my cards--to give them & make someone feel special.

Grandparents

Hello Everyone,

Today, I'm posting a layout featuring a photo of my in-laws surrounded by all their grandchildren. This was taken almost two years ago at my in-laws' 50th anniversary. It's difficult now to catch all the grandkids together since several are grown & have their own schedules. Having everyone there was great for my in-laws & this photo is a wonderful souvenir.

I used a page from Graphic 45's Secret Garden collection. The design is so pretty, featuring birds & nests, birdcages & keys. I thought this represented family very well, creating a home & caring for your family. I think my layout is a great souvenir of a special day.

Italian Picnic

Hello Everyone,

Today, I'm sharing a layout I created using Webster's Pages' Fly I Kite' background paper & featuring a photo I took a few years ago. This was taken at a family "picnic". For my husband's Italian family, sandwiches just won't do. For their "picnics", it's got to be pasta. Cooking pasta outdoors for a "picnic", or even at the beach, is what's expected. Needless to say, we've often had some funny looks from other picnickers & beach-goers!

Christmas Spirit in May

Hello Everyone,

Today, I submitted a double-page layout for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine's challenge. It features three photos of my girls with Santa when they were little. It's quite different to be using holiday papers & embellishments in May but at the same time I feel less pressure with time constraints. 

I try to stay as close to possible to the sketch being used for the challenge when I'm creating my layouts. I find it more challenging that way. I think my creation is quite successful.

May Sparkle Challenge

Happy Birthday Amanda

Today is my baby's 22nd Birthday! It seems like only yesterday she was tearing around the house throwing things around--her nickname was bouldozer back then. How I miss those days (not really!). She's all grown up now & is a wonderful young lady & a fantastic hairdresser. I'm posting a page layout featuring her prom photos taken at home before leaving for the party. This reminds me of how much she's matured since then and how quickly time passes. I don't know how many more birthday celebrations I'll be hosting until I'll be going to see her at her house instead. Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Submission

Hello Everyone,I haven't had a chance to blog lately because I've been busy finishing up some party details for an order. Today I took the time to submit a page layout for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine's Fall 2013 issue. I hope my page gets chosen for inclusion because it would be my first time being published. The Day After The Night Before

Hello Everyone, What a great day we had yesterday at the mega crop held at Scrapbook Quebec. We had so much fun! We completed 9 different & interesting challenges. There were drawings for prizes, yummy snacks & supper. Twelve and a half hours sounds like a really long time but the day went by so fast. I actually got some real work done. Mega Crop

Hello Everyone, I haven't had the chance to do any crafting in the last couple days. Yesterday, I had to leave early in order to be on time to go see OPRAH who was in Montreal for the first time! Today, I had a few things to do including packing a bag of supplies for tomorrow's Mega Crop day. I can't wait! It's my first time attending a crop but it sounds like such fun! Scrap Crop

Hello Everyone, I haven't done any crafting yesterday or today but I did visit my favorite store this morning. This store is Scrapbook Quebec. I love the store itself for its great supplies including the top paper collections & embellishments available on the market. I also like the fact that they have 'crop evenings' & themed 'mega crop' days--all-day events. I registered for their mega crop happening this coming Saturday. This will be my first time attending & I'm so looking forward to it. My daughter & her friend are joining me and we expect it to be lots of fun. Bo Bunny April Challenge

Hello Everyone, Today I created a scrapbook page based on the layout for Bo Bunny's April Challenge. For those who don't know, Bo Bunny is a fantastic producer of beautiful products for any kind of paper crafting. Their April Challenge is quite intricate but I think that my layout came out quite pretty. I used a photograph from my God-daughter Sabrina's birthday. The Bo Bunny page I chose has a black, pink & white colour palette so I added a few scraps of paper I had that would coordinate well. I also added a few embellishments including some butterflies which have now become her signature since we just used them on her confirmation invites. My page is quite simple but I think it's pretty. I hope that the designers at Bo Bunny think so too. Keep Crafting! Delia

The crafting product supplier Pink Paislee issued a challenge on their blog to create a paper craft using at least one of their products. This creation had to be based on their Spring colour palette. Mother's Day Card

Hello Everyone, Today I made a Mother's Day card that I am submitting to Paper Crafts Magazine. They posed the question 'what do these color swatches inspire you to create?' and this is what I was inspired to do. The brown, green, pink & beige colours were exactly the ones on a topper that I wanted to use. This topper reminds me of my Mother-in-law and I was able to create a pretty card for her (shh..don't tell her!). I am posting this on the magazine's blog page. First Submission

Hello Eveyone, I'm so happy & proud to say that today I sent in my first ever submission to a magazine. This is for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine's April Sketchy Challenge. I tried to follow the design sketch as much as possible but as is my habit I had to put my spin on it. I used a picture of my daughter that worked really well with my background paper. Hello Everyone, Today I decided to make a scrapbook page using a picture of my nephew. His birthday in the Fall season means that the pictures taken of him as a small boy were often taken with items associated with this season. I had a pretty paper from Bo Bunny that was perfect for his picture. I added several elements representing the season creating a pretty page with an orange, red & beige colouring. Keep Crafting! Summer Fun

Hello Everyone, I've taken a few days off from crafting but today I got back to work. I created a summery scrapbook page with a photo of a pretty young girl (a close family friend) & a dog (my sister-in-law's). The young girl is blowing bubbles outside during a beautiful, sunny summer day. This was very exciting for the dog who ran around chasing all the bubbles. To me, this is a perfect example of summer fun. This photo was the basis for my fun, summery page. Back to Work

Hello Everyone, I was finally able to get some work done today. I made a couple of confirmation cards that were ordered by a cousin & will be needed soon. I also worked a little on two special cards that will be needed at the beginning of May just to get them under way. I didn't work as efficiently as I usually do (I'm still not at 100%) but at least I got some work done! I will be finishing my Easter crafting tomorrow since I need them for Sunday! I'm pushing it a bit but I just couldn't do it sooner. As any crafter knows, it's better to take a break & go back to finish when you're up to it than to force yourself & get frustrated. Thinking of Spring

Hello Everyone! I am so looking forward to Spring--warmer weather, pastels and pretty flowers. I have mostly been doing paper crafts lately but I still like to work on other projects. Easter is my favourite holiday (because it means summer isn't too far away!) so I created a little still life to bring the feeling of Spring indoors.
